Hi. Just curious if this machine would be faster, or indifferent with another configuration of the memory. Right now it has 9GB

Slots #1 #3 #5
DDR3
2048MBytes
PC3-8500F (533MHz)
Micron Technology

These were bought, and added after purchase.

Slots #2 #4 #6
DDR3
1024 MBytes
PC3-10700H (667 MHz)

The computer originally came with these three.

Would it be faster with the 3GB alone since they are higher speed? Or the 6GB alone since there's more? Or would there be no real world difference? Really all this machine gets used for is watching some movies, and listening to music, or surfing the net, but I may start using it for encoding my movies.

higher quantity is always better compared to speed when it comes to memory...

Right now it is MOST LIKELY that you will benefit from going from 3 to 6gb, but not from 6 to 9gb... you will eventually though.

If you keep the faster 3GB in though it will just run at the speed of your slower 6GB set, which will not harm your speed in any way.

I would sell the 3x1GB set now while it still has value, if later i needed more ram id buy it later (it is so easy to install) if your time is valuable, just leave all 9GB in.
