different brands of radeon greater than ati or same?

been looking at buying a radeon 8500 128m card and am wondering if ati is the best or if one of the other radeon boards is better? i do like what i read about the 8500 xt from gigabyte but doesnt seem to be anywhere in canada if anywhere else.

the 8500 is the best radeon... and the best cards tend to be the ATI ones... although i'd trust a gigabyte card, there are a lot of shady ones 'powered by ATI'...i wouldnt touch 'em with a 10foot pole...
