differences in MCP of nforce2 boards?

i notice some nforce2 boards have MCP & MCP-T. for the most part, i think the differences are SATA, soundstorm, dual lan. however some sites mention MCP-D or MCP2 and MCP2-T. can someone break down the differences between all of them?

the MCP-D is from the nforce 1
the MCP2-T and MCP2 are in the nforce2

Yeah, pretty much as Bgeh said, the MCP-D was used on the nForce 1 based boards. The MCP is the basic southbridge for the nForce2 boards and doesn't support SATA, IEEE1394, the additional NIC, Soundstorm, and the extra 2 USB ports.

I have the 8RDA with the 2-channel sound, and I like it. I play a lot of FPS and you can easily ID where enemy gunfire is comming from. I have (2) desktop speakers with a 40watt Sub-woofer.

I think the positional audio is very good for what it is. Far, far better then the junky Via audio of the KT266a series, and everybit as good as my old Aureal SQ2500 IMHO. If I was buying now though, I would go for a MCP-T with soundstorm, only because they have come down $25-30 now that the boards have been out for awhile.

How does the Soundstorm campare to the Dolby 5.1?
I don't really know what I'm asking, I just want to know more about what to buy in terms of a southbridge on the nforce2 of my choice.

I use soundstorm (i use it via the digital out on my A7N8X Deluxe). It works fantastic to my 5.1 setup (logitech Z-680s). The only 5.1 stuff I do is on the occasional DVD, but all the channels were very distinct and clear in Saving Private Ryan (DTS version).

Can't answer much on games, I rarely play them any more.
