looks like there are problems with the 650+ pcmcia card running on my laptop, so i was wondering what the 650+ has over the 650

650 is 802.11b 11Mb/sec.

650+ is 802.11b 22Mb/sec.

The 650+ can be finicky when not working with the D-Link + line of APs.

Switching the drivers to plain 650 mode (11Mb/sec.) might solve the problem.

FWIW, I had to turn off both the 4x mode and the 2x mode of my D-Link DI-614+ to get it to connect to several different brands of wireless adapters. If you're mixing brands, don't expect to be able to run at anything by 11mbit with 802.11b.

FYI. The 2X/4X modes are only an advantage with a very strong signal (guess at 90%). Anything less and you are back to the normal 2-3 Mb/sec. The best I've ever seen between my 650+ and my 900AP+ is about 9-10Mb/sec.
