Differences between a Desktop OS (XP Pro) and a Server OS (2003 Server)?

ie: w2k pro vs w2k server

i know w2k Pro will have more eye candy over w2k server. but what other differences are there?

runs IIS
provides for Remote Access Services
provides for Domain Name Services
you can manage WINS
you can manage DHCP
Allows you to use RIS to install Win2k or XP on workstations
Can function as a domain controller

XP Pro can run IIS.

Pro does run IIS but with a limit to how many concurrent connections though.

XP Pro can run IIS.

With a 10 connection limit and no vhosts, not terribly usefull except for development.

There is no such thing as "2K3". It's either 2003 Server, in various editions, or nothing.

Now, to the OP. Windows 2000 Pro and Sever versions have an identical interface. Server will naturally have options available that Pro will not, but the interface itself is identical. Unless you meant to compare 2000 Pro/Server to Windows XP, in which case XP has the eyecandy (which can be turned off, and will then be about the same as 2000).

Incidentally, Microsoft's website is full of information about what OS can do what, and goes so far as to list features available in each one. This will give you exact information as to what each OS does.
