Hi folks,

I've a rather old TwinHead (not a known brand in US) notebook which sports the Intel 82443MX chipset. The notebook spec states that the max RAM supported is 192MB while Intel spec states 256MB. Is there anyway I can determine which is the value I should follow? Any software out there I can use to check the max RAM supported?

Thanks.

If it's an older notebook there's a possibility that one of the ram slots has the ram soldered into place, decreasing the maximum allowable ram. Check to see if both slots are accessable and both ram components are removable (if one is soldered than that's probably the reason for 192 instead of 256)

Darn, I think you're spot-on. 64MB of RAM is soldered into the mobo itself and there's only one RAM slot to expand the RAM. Oh well, time for an upgrade :)

Thanks for the help.
