difference in chieftech, antec, chenming?

I know the cases are essencially the same with the exeption of the PS, but are there any more differences? I've read the finish on the Antec's is better. Is there any truth to this? I have an Antec 840 now, but I'm looking into this chieftech because of the lack of the front door with the 4 5.25 inch bays.

Chieftec 601AR

from what ive read, they're all made by chenming. other than the different power supply and either no fans/different brand fans, they're all the same finish-wise.

Ordering direct from Chen Ming is best as they can add a second hard drive cage with a fan mount to the bottom of the Antec 10XX style case, the 601AE, making it hold that much more hard drives 😀

Just got an 601AR by Ups today. It's internal layout is identical to the Antec 1000 series, but no stinkin door!!!! And it has two removable drive cages. Chieftec has it under model CT-2700.

Interesting. Looking at the pics of the 601AR, the ONLY difference between that and the Chenming601AE is the faceplate. The structure is exactly the same. So I suppose IF Chenming were to stock spare parts, you could change the look of the case at will...

Is this possible, how would one order direct from chenming? Are the prices reasonable? I can order the whole 601AR case without PS for $60+ shipping. Changing the face plate from the 1000 series to the 601AR face plate would be possible I think. It wouldn't work with the 800 series since the drives aren't stored in the same spot. I think the entire metal front would have to be replaced also, but I hvaen't looked carefullly to be sure of it.

i bought a midtower chenming directly from the warehouse in union city, ca (though if you call them and ask, they'll tell you no, you have to buy the case through fry's, best buy, etc). it was $43 w/o power supply, it had a removable hd cage (2 hdds), snap in cases for 5 fans (2 on back, 3 on front with one blowing the hd cage), no door but otherwise sturdy and fine.

The same basic cases are also marketed by Enermax and as Chenming's "House Brand", Uneec. They're available wholesale from Chenming in a wide variety of bezel styles, bay arrangements, etc, with or without various PSU's. I'm sure that they also make OEM boxes with "proprietary" bezels....

More of their stuff-
