Difference bwt 512kb cache and 1024kb?

Now with these new drops in prices of the AMD CPUs Im actually considering getting one over the Conroe due to the shortage that I think will happen. For real world performance, especially gaming, will there be a difference bwt the Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz 512KB and the Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.2GHz 1024KB ? The price of the 4400 is double that of the 3800 so I was wondering if its even worth the price to get the higher end one.

And I wouldn't expect a shortage, Intel has a massive fab capacity.

Wait till the prices settle down. It all depends on the degree of price difference. In an absolute term, L2 cache size matters alot in games and probably only in games. Often times it will make up for 200MHz frequency difference. The shortage of Conroe is expected, but how bad it will be, will depend on Intel's pricing on older P4 CPUs. (If the new 65nm P4 3.8GHz is $50, I'd pick that over a $500 E6700. )
