difference between z-5300e and z-5500e speakers?

I don't know if a 100 dollar price gap is justified. I know that the z5500e has a hardware decoder, but what does it do? If my sound card has a dolby digital decoder, why do I need a hardware decoder on my speakers?

The decoder would be used if you wanted to send digital out of your soundcard for DVDs or hook up an external DVD player to them. The speakers would be able to decode the signal instead of having your soundcard do it.

Using the soundcard to do it should be just fine.

The speakers and sub themselves are completely different than the 5300 set though so it's not like that's the only difference. The z-5500s are going to be a more capable set overall.
