Difference between XP Home & Prof

Is there a significant difference between the two version?

XP Comparision

Looking @ this site, I don't need some of the things there such as encrpyting files, and remote desktop (pcAnywhere will work).

But, the following two options, I'm a little confused on.

1) Centralized administration - join Windows XP Professional systems to a Windows Server domain to take advantage of the full range of powerful management and security tools.

Does this mean i can't join XP home to a domain? I connect to my network @ work that is a DOMAIN, but at home I should be ok.

2) Software Installation and Maintenance ? automatically install, configure, repair, or remove software applications.

What, I can't install/uninstall programs under XP Home?

The main difference is the encryption abilities and the administration abilities...the other stuff is just hype.

well dual cpu support is nice to have and (comes with the pro version) if you decide to go MP some day.
