Difference Between Q9450 Part Numbers BX80569Q9450 / BX80569Q9450A / 894292 ?

I've been searching around for the best place to preorder a Q9450 and I've come to the conclusion that the part numbers are simply too confusing for me. I want to buy the retail CPU with heatsink included, and these are the different manufacturer part numbers I have noticed so far (TrioInternational.com carries all three so I will use them as a reference):

$346.67
Manufacturer Part Number: BX80569Q9450

$361.42
Manufacturer Part Number: BX80569Q9450/894292

$366.98
Manufacturer Part Number: BX80569Q9450A

I was originally told that the BX80569Q9450A was the OEM version of the processor, but this is questionable because its $20 more than the BX80569Q9450 - and I have no idea where the BX80569Q9450/894292 came from nor do I have any clue as to what the part number represents. If anyone could give me some insight and any recommendations on where to preorder, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

i did some searching and ran into one of the places you posted and this response:

http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=333747

that's about as reasonable a guess as any..for sure, there's going to be a retail and oem version difference in part number..so the only question then becomes why a third? they won't release different stepping versions at the same time, i don't think or that could explain that. i do like the theory that they will have them with 2 different fans..maybe the stock intel cooler which would be quite adequate and an "enthusiast version that comes with good thermal paste and an aftermarket heatsink, but i wouldn't expect it to be an ultra 120 or tuniq tower or anything like that..maybe a zalman or 64pro version:)

just an fyi, read this thread..if your ultimate goal is to see if you can get 4 gig, i would suggest as a guy who has the cpu you want..and the board you have..and 2 gigs of memory that can easily do 500+ on stock voltage, go for the 8400..without a severe bios performance increase on the abit and watercooling, i see no way that your going to get 8 x 500 on air or maybe even watercooling as i don't think temp is any issue as i can run it at 1.3 volts and 3600 all day if i want to. and i generally concur with the opinions in this thread..that at least at this point, 478ish is where the 9450 stops dead in it's tracks..and the high pretty stable zone is 8 x 450 (i've had 8x 483 but i woudn't consider it stable for anything beyond booting into windows..as soon as you start testing stuff, it crashes) but 500 at any voltage currently is a no go..i've tried it all:)

http://www.xtremesystems.org/f...howthread.php?t=173287

my theory is that on average, your going to see guys running the 9450 at 8 x 450 who want to overclock it on an everyday basis..

then let's talk the 9550..if i'm correct, it's going to have no more fsb potential and .5 multi so that takes us to:

3825 on the outside for those who want to run it hard everyday stable. 4,000 to shoot for bragging rights but currently, 4,000 would still appear to be a push. i think it's more likely guys who buy a 9550 are going to try for 8 x 500 and i wish them luck.

my last opinion..if i was going to spend 600 plus retail for a 9550..35, 40% more than 9450? i'd go all the way and get a qx9650 for a 1,000 and be done with it.

fyi, i run my 9450 on an htpc system with mx2 paste at 3400 everyday and it runs solid..i'm able to keep the cpu voltage just above the lowest (1.275 versus 1.235) with no other voltage increases required and my cpu fan at it's lowest speed (500-600 rpm) so my box is very quiet. i'm happy with that.

Is it already born ?

wikipedia said march 15 was the day. it's not anymore on the future Intel Core 2 cpu's list, but on the current list!

But I cant find it :(

thanks,

Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R

do you mean if it's 2.1 revision it should have a compatible bios...or that's going to be last revision...no not necessarily to the first (my ds4 was the latest revision as well) likely, to the 2nd...gigabyte sure seems to do a lot of board revisions:)

hey !

points for Gigabyte. The board arrived yesterday, and the Pentium 4 worked flawlessly ! Just need to see what will happen when Q9450 arrive :)
the only downside is my fault as I'm not 100% confortable with having only 1 IDE port.

but up to now no complaints whatsoever. :)

thanks for all infos

I bet I will. but the main issue is that I do have many old systems in here, for OS studying. so I still need ide.

but I have already one SATA 160GB and together with this mobo I'm also buying two sata disks.

ok, when I get to run the quad I'll post here, just thin it will be long time to it. even though wikipedia said the lauch day was march 15, I've just seen preorders none "in stock" unfortunately. :(

but even when this day arrives, it takes another good amount of time to reach the stores here in Brazil.

but, what I know is that this quad baby will be folding, and who waited since last october, can wait ( I think ;) ) one or two more months :)

thanks so far,

matheus
