Hello all,
I'm in the process of upgrading my desktop with a 512 MB stick of PC133 SDRAM. On any one of those RAM price sites, you'll get a list of generic and branded memory. The generic is usually considerably cheaper than any branded types.
Now I've read a few threads and it seems most people prefer Crucial or Mushkin memory. But exactly what do I gain from buying branded memory over generic memory? People have told me that branded memory is faster. Is this true? Or is it just that it won't break? Or is it the warranty? Are the gains worth the sometimes 50% difference in price?
If so, what are the brands to go for and why?
