Difference between distilled water and drinking wateR?

You can drink distilled water. I use it mostly in my iron though. Used it for mixing baby formula also when my son was on formula after my wife stopped breast feeding.

Normally I'm not one to argue with a teacher, but if I remember my high school science courses, doesn't etho/metho/iso alcohol all boil around 80C? If so, it would all boil off before the water did, so you should be able to remove alcohol from water via distillation.

that's the problem: boiling a mixture isn't the same as boiling the individual components.

The problem with distilling is since water/ethanol exhibits an azeotrope, it gets really messy and you can't get anywhere near 100% separation.
