Difference between dead and stuck pixels?

How can I tell if a pixel is either stuck or dead? Also, I've heard if the pixel is stuck there's a good chance it can be fixed? I just bought a brand NEW PSP and it turns out there's one pixel that's malfunctioning or something. It's hardly noticeable, but it's still there. Anyway, is there any solution to this without returning the PSP. Let me know thx!

My guess would be that a dead pixel doesn't show any color, while a stuck pixel shows some color that was... well... stuck there.

Open an empty fullscreen session of Notepad, wait a bit, then close it. If the pixel's white, it's stuck. If you can see a little black spot while Notepad's open, it's dead.
