i have a 810e mobo (no agp slot), so i'm forced to buy a pci card. i have a radeon sdr 32mb pci, which i think is a radeon 7200.

I saw this about a radeon 7000 ddr pci: Radeon 7000 ddr

Anyone know the difference between the 2? and how much better is one over the other? (links to stats pls)

I believe the only difference between the two is that the Radeon 7000 has DDR RAM as you mentioned. I have a radeon 32mb ddr and my computer detects it as a Radeon 7000.

The Radeon 7000 is a piece of crap! Although it uses DDR RAM, its on a 64-bit memory bus (same speed as SDR on a 128-bit bus). It's the new "Radeon VE" and its slower than a regular Radeon SDR.

Metalloid - your radeon should be detecting as a 7200 I believe (My Radeon 32 MB DDR LE detects as that).

Go for a Radeon 7500, those are sweet cards

thx jiffy!

too bad the LE didnt come in PCI form :(

looks like the best PCI video cards are either the gf2 mx, radeon sdr 32mb, or voodoo5.

sigh, looks like i have to upgrade my whole system to play the cutting edge games like Unreal2/warcraft3 this summer :(

I'm not sure WC3's requirements but Unreal 2 requires a very very powerful system. 1.5 GHz + and a GF2 pro / Radeon + for acceptable performance!

jiffy, where does it say that??? i dont think any game needs a 1.5 ghz to play at 1280x1024x16bit. if that's so, then the makers of the game have cut off alot of their market base (all duron and celeron users).

but i do agree a realistic minimum of gf2 pro/radeon ddr to play 1280x1024x16
