difference between 8mb buffer and 2mb buffer

how much of a difference would i notice between an 8mb buffer external hdd, and a 2mb one? if im only using the harddrive for storage, not running any programs off of it... any articles that talk about it??

all the articles i found only compared 8 to 8 or 2 to 2, didnt see any that did a cross comparison

For the difference in price, I think it's worth it. I can't give you any numbers, but I think I noticed a little speedier operation when I switched from an 80 gig maxtor 2mb to my first 80 gig WD 8mb. Since then I've always gone with 8mb drives because I've always been able to find good deals on them.
