What is the main difference between a amd64 3200+ and a amd64 3200+ with clawhammer core CG model.? I looking to buy a 3200 and cant find all tha faqs. Help..thx..

I'm interested in this aswell. I haven't upgraded my computer in over a year. I am so out of the loop now. I saw a motherbd at Fryes and was blown away by the multiple AMR slots. Then i found out they were pci-e, which i didn't even know was out.

3200+ Newcastle = 2.2GHz with 512K Cache for socket 754
3200+ Winchester = 2.0GHz with 512K Cache for socket 939 (dual channel memory)
3200+ Clawhammer = 2.0GHz with 1024K for socket 754

No, 754 is not on it's way out. It will still be around for sometime. That's where the Sempron processors come in. The upgrade path with 754 will not be as good as on a 939socket however. I currently use a 754 3200+ clawhammer(but that's because i bought it before 939 was out), and it runs great. some people achieve better performance off a 754 sometimes( 'some people' ).... If you plan on wanting the latest stuff that's out, get a 3200+ winchester(939) with a cheap mobo, and later upgrade your mobo to a new one that supports new features like pci express.
