edit: So it turns out, this allergant/breathing issue isn't so much dietary as it is pollen/airborne, and I found this out for a couple reasons:

1) this problem of congestion only really happens when I am in san diego in a specific house.

2) everywhere else in CA (norcal, socal) I don't have this problem.

3) I got an air filter/purifier for this location and I am not as badly affected. So here's my question: would I need to take the air filter's contents to a professional to get a good read on what would likely be causing the problem?

Here's another question: do you think it could be the acacia tree in the backyard with all of its flower/leaves?

What kind of mucous are you talking about? Phlegm within your sinuses? In actuality, milk doesn't increase mucous production, it increases the viscosity. Depending on where you're getting the increased mucous production, you may want to talk to the doctor. Some of those things can be related to inflation, increased baseline immune response, infection, etc.

I hereby necro this thread with an update that I found exciting and potentially life changing in my quest to be able to live for a specified time in a specific locale without risk of suffocating from allergies.

Thread necro'd.

I think you have SINUSITIS or RHINITIS like me. I'm allergic to pollen, smoke, perfumes, loose powder and even fabric conditioner. You should have an antihistamine with you

And what did you find?

I haven't opened it up yet, but the air filter is losing its power already. Filter should last 3 months, but I'm no longer feeling the kind of relief in its proximity I was when it was a few hours new.

You may be right. There might be some kind of fungal issues the house is having-- I dont have this problem anywhere else, or at least nowhere near pronounced.
