That terrible taste is the aspartame trying to kill you.

Go with "real" sugar, or none at all. Diet soda isn't worth it.

Ive been drinking diet soda for so many years I dont think I could stand the taste of a regular soda anymore.

I like Vault Zero or Diet Mountain Dew (both regular and code red).

I forgot about the Diet Dew...and there are generic store brands that are just as good including Diet Citrus Drop and Diet Drop Red (both Kroger brands) that are equally good and cost much less.

The dentist told me this week that Diet "Cokes" are worse than regular "Cokes" because they are more acidic.

Rank:
Sprite/Lemon & Lime based "Cokes" > Diet "Cokes" > Regular "Cokes"

Aspartame isn't an acid... I'd ask for some evidence.

At my last dental visit, my dentist explained that any drink with an additive to water, which eventually corrode or attract tartar because it forms a film on your teeth that doesn't wash away with saliva. He said the only drink that doesn't form a film is water.... and yes, he said diet sodas are as bad as regular. They may have less sugar (if any) but they make up for the fact with different ingredients such as sweeteners and acids.

I say we all drink liquor...

my teeth have been fine after 30+ years of 12+ sodas a day. Only cavities I have had have been the four wisdom teeth I had pulled 15 years ago.

you'll get used to it, i used to drink regular...now it's all diet for me. i used to drink 4 litres of pepsi a day, now it's one or two diet cans a week. DIET COKE W/ LIME is soooo good

Drink water. I probably have less than a coke a week and I do fine.

That said, I've heard the phosphoric acid in dark sodas is what is bad for your teeth.
