Diet soda...

Hey guys...

I don't drink coffee, tea, or much junk food though I have to admit that I do drink soda from time to time. When given the opportunity, I usually go for the diet with the '0 calories' on it because I figure it's just caffinated water, maybe a bit worse.

Question is now, how bad is diet soda for you? I am trying to get back into shape after a while of not working out so I'm just trying to make it as quick and painless as possible. I just want to know if diet soda will hamper me in any way?

Thanks!

One of my old teachers had a 6 pack of diet coke each day and his stomach got fvcked up...spent a week in the hospital. Diet still isn't good for your teeth even without the sugar, but its better than regular soda. If you're only drinking once in awhile...I wouldn't worry about it.

I drink it all the time. I enjoy a carbonated beverage while eating so it would be either regular soda or diet. Regular soda is probably the worst thing for your diet. Just empty calories. Plus soda in the US is all corn syrup based, leaving a sticky film on your teeth. That's enough reason to switch to diet.

I though Coke uses real Sugar while Pepsi uses Corn Syrup.

Diet Cherry Coke!

The acids in soda are bad for your teeth. The caffeine is bad for you, period.

Kicking a caffeine habit is painful, and depressing, but once you do you'll be better off.

Also, there is speculation that regular intake of artificial sweeteners gives you a sweet tooth, and makes you more inclined to crave and eat sweet things. Though that's far from proven.

At any rate, I stay away from soda and drink water.

This made me really want to stop drinking soda, and I did for a while:

Look on the back of the can at how many grams of sugar are in 1 can. Measure out that amount onto a scale and then compare the volume of sugar to a 12oz can of soda. It's at least half the can volume! Every can of soda you drink you are sucking down that much sugar.

I can't believe my parents let us drink so much of it growing up, its very unhealthy, diet or not.
