Diehard Nickelback fans respond to Trump’s surprising meme

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/oct/03/nickelback-photograph-trump-meme-tweet-response-fans

After Trump’s tweet late on Wednesday, the NickelbackFans Facebook page, which has more than 30,000 followers, posted: “I never believed I would say this but thank you Mr President for making Nickelback trending in the US!”
Steele was upset to see that the band’s name was popular again – only to be the butt of some online joke. “I’m tired of seeing them being used as a joke, they don’t deserve it nor does anyone else,” she told the Guardian.
Lifelong Nickelback fan Paige Niccum, 26, agrees: “Seeing other Nickelback fans celebrate the attention annoyed me. This is not what Nickelback would want,” she said.

For a bit of lighthearted news....

Pretty surreal, as I suspect the next year will be. Meme Wars 2. Not sure what is funnier though, Trump tweeting out a Nickleback meme or the fact that there even exists die hard Nickleback fans 😀

Trump is lucky that Nickelback didn't sue him for infringement as he's not protected from civil actions and of course Trump is a firm support of IP and Copyright, eh? 😉

Online, the Canadian rock band is shorthand for conservative white guys in trucker hats who still hate the ex they broke up with four years ago; and so, despite them not having released a record in two years, the internet is brimming with Nickelback memes.

One such meme was circulated by Trump on Wednesday, in an apparent attempt to shift attention away from ongoing impeachment proceedings against him.

“LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH” he tweeted, referencing a famous Nickelback song, alongside a video promoting discredited corruption claims against Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

Yup, duhvert at all costs, even invoking Nickelback, and fans are grumpy over it? Lol

Internet-troll-in-chief strikes multiple times a day now

Wouldn't this count as parody though? I think things like that would be protected, otherwise we would never have any memes.

Fair use doesn't allow for use in self-interest as a matter of promoting an illegal act. Agree or not the FEC has come out and stated that Trump broke the law.

Parody and criminal effrontery are not the same.

He pointed out Biden saying he never had interactions with his son about Ukrainian business dealings. That’s not a criminal act. A lot of other stuff Trump did I’d say is criminal, but not this.

I just want to take a moment to remind people to leave their shoes at the front door.

As an aside, and as you know, there is a tradition in the islands for folks to leave their footwear outside before entering a home. When families and friends gather to celebrate, an eclectic collection of footwear is left outside. This is the time when another tradition comes into play where some folks like to upgrade their footwear by exchanging theirs with somebody else's.

Of course, the vicitims of this unsavory tradition have already pinned the dastardly deed on the first couple of families to leave the special occasion and will return the favor at the next gathering thus perpetuating the tradition.

I was born in Paradise and moved back there later. Mostly I lived with bare feet. There was a particularly nasty sticker you could step on but they didn't bother me my pads were so thick. I do miss Paradise sometimes. But the humidity can make you sweat. Did you know there used to be no mosquitos there. They came by ship in water barrels. Damn coopers everywhere.
