Die, Creative, Die!!!!

Creative SpyWare Allegations Surface

The makers of SB Live! that POS that Anand keeps recommending, apparently have SPYWARE with their drivers. Ok... so this is ZDNet, a half @ssed website that's even more inacurate and biased (they are so pro intel its ridiculous) than even this lousy site.

IF these allegations are true its high time we stick it to Creative.

I won't be buying any Creative products. If the allegations are untrue then my appologies but a middle finger to creative anyways for messing up my friend's Tbird system.

Anyone have any personal experiences with this alledged spyware?

I have seen this thing running... I figured it was exactly what Creative says it is.... something that simply checks to see if you have the latest drivers for the hardware.

I figured it was pretty harmless and left it alone.

I don't think I have had any problems with it.

I really like the idea of the computer checking to make sure it is all up to date. I wish more companies would work together to standardize some sort of catch-all update software. MS tried to do this with "Windows Update" but never was really able to get other companies to buy off on the idea.

I would hate to have every piece of hardware or software I own check to see if they are all updated everytime I boot the computer though... that is why ONE program is needed.

???????

That thing has allways pissed me off and I knew it was spyware as soon as it came out especially since there have been no updates for 2 years that it ever shows to download.

well i just scrubbed my drives and reinstalled windows with turtle beaches santa cruz....i had to reformat to get rid of the sbliveware...so thats it for me...plus i do think the santa cruz actually sounds cleaner

Creative was an innovative co. when they first appeared. So was Burger King and Mickey D's
Creative is to computer hardware what Denny's is to good food.
A very bad joke.
No flames...I'm an idiot,,,I bought a SB Platinum ! 😀
More over advertizzzzed junk !

Yup, I had newsupd.exe running when I installed the software for my Nomad II mp3 player. I caught it because I saw it in the task manager in Win2k. So I went straight to the registry, and killed the sucker 😀 And, whenever I reformatt my drive, I always have to remember to do that. Otherwise the program will download new banners for me to watch as I send mp3's to the player :disgust: How LAME!

Hey, congrats on finding the shift key for capitalization! But, like IamDavid, I think you made a major blunder in that choice of words. If you meant what you wrote about this site, then EAT SH!T AND DIE, WORM! :|

Somehow I managed to do an install of version 4.06 from Creative without enabling newsupd.exe. Didn't take much effort on my part, so my assumption that you and your friends are pretty lazy and/or inept still holds up! 😛

It comes with Liveware, but can easily be turned off...
My Firewall kept me busy all the time in the beginning, cause the little sucker wanted to use my internet connection...no way, man... 😛

big whoop! Who cares? What's it going to collect about you that you're so afraid of? My goodness some people are paranoid! When you surf the net tonnes of sites collect info from you without your permission unless you browse the web through an anonymous proxy.

"Wah wah wah, I don't know what's really going on and I'm upset! Wah wah. Die die die."

Grow up.
