wow...mine works flawlessly. I ditched the headphones it came with for new ones though. They sucked. Its the best mp3 player for the gym and running I can think of

That's why I bought the shuffle, for gym and running. It was so small seemed perfect for working out without it getting in the way.
 
We're getting one for free in the mail soon (cruise promotion)... we'll see how crappy the construction is. But I don't think changing your opinion of a company for 1 bad unit is reasonable. Maybe if you got replacement after replacement, then you'd have an argument.

gets burned over a product that is defective after only 2 months of a 2 year warranty (incase you don't know what that means, the company expects the product to last 2 years).

Ok guys, I seem to remember a post by the mods saying personal attacks where not allowed so why don't you all play nice. I'm sorry if Sonz70 supposed behaiver insults you so deeply. Just the fact that what someone says on an internet forum could affect you so is quite disturbing and I wonder what you are like in real life. I'm not defending anything, just trying to figure out why people are getting so annoyed.

As for the topic at hand, I have never been a big fan of the shuffle. The regular ipod is ok, but the shuffle always seemed overpriced for it's features. I personally like the creative MUVO TX models, but maybe thats just me.

Sorry to interrupt, but try turning the headphone thingie in the jack and pressing it front, back & to each side while listening. Also try a different pair of phones. My guess though is that the internals are making intermittent contact; the minis had this same problem a while back. While you could try to send it back for repair, if it were me, being the tinkerer I am, I'd pop it open and check. A little solder could be the end of the problem.

Now back to your regularly scheduled flamewar 😀

I did read all posts up to that one. You're basically whining because you have a defective product that is under warranty while barely managing to do so without looking like a fool.
