omg, i have had some bad experiences with this. The phone will do that on its own from myleg hitting stuff and what not, and will dial 911 without me knowing. I then get a call a few minutes later from the police asking if everything is ok, cause I had dialed them.... this has happened about 5 times now and i hope i dont get in trouble from it

you can lock the keypad ya know?
my old phone would do that automatically after 30secs.

wow ... just ...

wow.

ugh.. i hate non flip phones. I keep getting calls from my dad and it's getting annoying. I notice he locks his phone usually too... but I get these calls where all I hear is swishing or rattling... what's worse is that he refused to get verizon like the rest of us and has ATT...

My phone I'm sure is better than all of yours, I have a Sony Ericsson P900.

Either way, yeah, it's a common feature.

Try "112, 911 and 999". They should all work and be dialable (even a word?) whilst locked.

haha..i got p0wned. i forgot about the original topic after i ate lunch, still had this window open and responded to the most recent post i saw.

anyways..my 9 button doesnt work unless i press it a couple times. prevents me from calling 911 accidentally when its in my pocket. (and keylocked)

I don't use a code.. that would just be annoying as hell to type in the code everytime you want to unlock it.

Yeah, 911 generally works on all phones, activated or not. Land lines too.

huh, the other day I saw a billboard on the side of a bus telling us to lock our phones so we didn't accidentally call 911.

Guess that billboard was crap.

I believe that it is mandated by law that all phones must be able to dial 911 (or any other emergency number) regardless of keypad lock, account status, coverage area, etc. Basically, as long as the phone has battery power, you can dial 911.
