That sucks...the last job interview I went to the people were really nice and up front about everything. About 5 minutes in, they told me the salary they were offering (way low ball, even for a position in the state attorney general's office). I asked if there was any negotiating space in the salary, they said no. I told them I could live on that salary and that was that.

Sorry to hear I had a similar situation before I landed my current job. They went as far as to call me to tell me I'm hired, and they were going to fedex overnight me the legal forms to sign. I was super excited and ready to work.

Said papers never arrived, they ended up hiring someone else. To this day I don't know if they changed their minds, called me incorrectly, what. I learned the valuable lesson that you don't have a job until you start

Even if you are paid crappy, try to continue to get new and valuable experience, so when you find something good that wants choicy experience, you can bail and make much more.
