I burned a cdrw on someone elses IBM thinkpad and I was using a software that came with a IBM laptop (not sure what program it was). I didn't close the session after I burned the program and now I can't access the information that is on the disk. I have tried several computers and they just crash on me. So I have come here for help... do you guys have any suggestion?

Thanks in advance for your help... I really need the information off this disk.

i think if you use some kinda burning software, nero, easy cd creator, etc you maybe be able to view the info on the disc?? maybe... but maybe you have to have a burner to close the session..i'm not totally sure. maybe worth a try tho if its real important.

I have seen this happen to a few of my customers over the years, and I have yet to find a solution.

Here is what worked for me -

You need to go back to the CDRW that you used to burn the CD. Place the cd in the cdrw. Open My Computer. Right click on the CDRW and select 'eject'. It should ask you if you want to make this cd readable on other drives. Select yes. This is how I fixed the problem.

That's only in XP though, isn't it?

But if you're back at the same machine anywayz, load up the same software, write a blank .TXT file to it, and then close it.

Thanks for your ideas but I can't get access to the computer that I originally burned the software on. Is there any other workaround?

if the disc isn't closed you can try to add something else then close it. Sometimes as said above insert the disc, spawn the session and then select eject disc -> make readable on other drives/close session will work.

Or just recopy it and close the new session.
