These Colorado doctors should measure the stress level of a sheep that is having his a$$ eaten out by a bunch of hungry maggots.

I would venture to say that would be fairly stressful too...

Its dumb to think just because they are animals they somehow feel less pain. If someone sheared your ass, wouldnt it hurt?

if maggots ate you out, it would hurt too

yea id rather take a few seconds ha REALLY BAD PAIN, that a slow agonizing death

Thats not the point, obviously maggots suck, but why not find a less painful way of doing it.

Basically they shear off the skin so that the new skin forming is scar tissue. So you dont want fleas so lets shear your dogs body! Instead of giving it a flea collar or a drop of medicine.

Why not find a mor epain free way? Because we are going to use their skin for coats and eat their bodies anyways. Who cares.

EDIT:
IM wearing sheep skin slippers right now.

Humans die anyway, why do we try to relieve their pain? And those are probably wool sheep.

Humans are not bread for me to eat. I love lamb chops.

Yes. And the sheep would frequently die from "flystrike."

Sh!t like this is proof to me that PETA hates animals and well as people.

After it's done, the wool doesn't grow back in that spot, and it's not lots of lose skin, so the flies can't lay eggs.

thats kinda stupid...so the only alternative is to be eaten alive by maggots ?

I dont think that farmers do that "for fun"...and if it helps actually keeping the sheep alive....well whats the problem ? Its not nice, it might hurt, it sounds nasty...but so are many things whch often have to be done for preventing ever further pain/death.

ok i know its cool to hate PETA and all, but think about what they are saying here before rambling off about how PETA does more harm than good. PETA understands that the procedure is for the benefit of the sheep. But cant they find a less painful way of doing so?

i agree with PETA on this one.

i think peta can eat a fat one

My guess is that through artificial selection of breed throughout generations to gain more wool out of a sheep, it created or increased these skin folds to a point that they were perfect homes for maggots. Perhaps wild sheep did not have this problem.

So simple solution - breed out the sheep that don't have these skin folds.

If what you say is true, having more flabby skin is probably the source of the greater amount of wool.

So are you...

How are you best served? :p
Probably deep fried with mashed potatoes and a biscuit. But if you're gonna try to kill and eat me, you've gotta be faster or smarter than I am. And to be honest, neither of those is looking too good for you right now. ;)

dude the problem is they are usually already living a sub-par life that many would be happy to be killed from.

Farm animals in production have terrible lives....most of the farmers would trade a penny for allowing a animal to lose a non-profitable part.
