That should be a strictly enforced law everywhere in the world.

I'd pay money to have that enforced here

NJ, hmm. Hard to say, to many variables.

Too many illegal immigrants driving with no licenses. Too many teenagers who watched 2 fast 2 furious one time to many.

And well damn...

NJ builds houses before they build the frign roads. Our back roads are even congested to hell and every street corner needs a traffic signal. Just as long as NJ doesn't have to pay for it, they are more than happy to welcome and real estate firm.

I also have friends in NJ and while they're not terrible themselves, driving down there is a nightmare. People in Jersey take their driving tests in parking lots

massholes...ahahahahahaha!

6. Ohio

Bullsh!t. Ohio needs to be way higher. I'm amazed how some people here got a drivers license in the first place.

LoL, I drove around in NC. Some guy was shocked that I didn't let him in from an Onramp. I was going straight with like 9 cars right on my ass.
Does he expect me hard brake and let him in ?

I've encountered way better drivers up north than down south.

The problem with NJ is not that the drivers are inherently bad, but it's too conjested. In Husdon County (where the population density is higher than the worse areas of India), you really can't walk out the door without accidently hitting a car.

"I have a thing about people who hog the passing lane," Despain said. "I tend to take a dim view of Florida because I think there's a disproportionate number of people there who fail to fully appreciate the benefits of lane discipline."

OMG That is so true.... SOOOO true..

Though, in FL, the Georgia drivers are just as bad. There's tons of them on our Interstates and they NEVER get the fvck out of the left lane. And, since their cops are redneck nazis, they drive as slow in Florida as they do in Georgia.

But ya, FL drivers suck too. My favorite is the 1-hour lane change technique. The old fvcks start slowly changing lanes in their Cadillacs and when everyone is trying to get around them, they take up 2 lanes for 1 hour while drifting into the next lane. ARGH!!

That poll isn't valid at all. All it represents is the most populous states, not the states with the worst drivers.

The worst drivers in NY almost always have NJ plates.

Uh... yeah, those results suck. I'd rather see a study of statistics, I'm sure New Jersey wouldn't be close to the top then. We have the third fewest fatal accidents per capita. It's all of those idiot Pennsylvanians and New Yorkers that give us a bad name.

That's either because you're all such bad drivers that you don't recognize a good driver when you see one, or because NJ drivers are so used to driving among good drivers that when put in a situation where everyone drives poorly, they can't handle it. :)

Edit:
I think we've all pretty much proven this:
Bad drivers, said Despain, are usually "the people right across the border from where you live, or people in the state you just moved to or from."

Bleh, that's crap about Florida. While, yes, native Foridian drivers are bad and should be on the list....they're not the worst. Florida just seems so bad because all the crappy drivers from everywhere else come to Florida, rent a car, don't know where the hell they're going and try to make a 3-lane left turn into someone else's side when they realize they're about to miss it.

I would personally vote for Pennsylvania because I have NEVER seen people come to a STOP and the end of the ON-ramp for a major interstate, when it's not busy, and look bot ways as if they were making a left turn (this occured several times in the one day I was there). Also, they're slow, don't use their turns signals, ride the left lane, and all-around suck.

Illinois drivers aren't bad....they're just all jerks.

That's kind of what I was thinking since it appeared to be saying it was pretty much just based an open online poll. Since most people think the drivers in their stare are the worst the more populated states are bound to win.

Granted, more populated states also have more traffic which probably makes it seem worse. But based off my personal perspective it seems to me that rural drivers are among the worst when it comes to actual driving skills. I know here in Alabama I tend to be wary of cars that are from the rural counties.
