Stop buying cheapshit particleboard desks.

Actually, it wasn't cheap: ~ $300
That's unfortunate you spend that much on such a worthless desktop.

My $40 piece of formica countertop shows no wear after 5+ years of heavy use.

Your pice of formica countertop probably won't stand 4 23" CRT monitors, would it? Ok
Well, It handles 3 19" CRTs just fine. While thoes were on it, I stood on it to kill a bug.
I've also stacked the CRTs, 3 full size towers and a bunch of other crap on it when cleaning the carpets.

I can nearly guarantee a piece of formica countertop can handle more weight than your desk ever can.
Think about what you say, before you say it.

Um, this will never erode your desktop. Been using it for at least 5 years.
FPS games must suck with that thing.

I've been gaming with a ball mouse w/o a mouse pad and I still own people with optical and steelpads

Anyways, back to topic...

Chronoshock: thanks for all the help man. I'll look into teflon tapes as well. Couple of users mentioned them on Newegg. Steelpad and Icepad come with their own as well :)

Atomicus: sure you do :p

I used to play Quake/Quake II multiplayer and did great with my Logitech Trackman Marble. Beats the fsck out of dragging a mouse all over the place for FPS and everyday usage.

Not quality mouse surfaces, those are around 20, sometimes up to 40. Pads that cost 2 bucks are the crappy cloth things on top of black foam.

Don't feel bad because you made your parents buy you a piece of sh!t $300 dollar desk.
I understand that in your limited knowledge you will equate quality with a higher price.

Formica or corian countertop + a 2x4 woodframe or concrete blocks is better than anything you can buy.
Though you won't believe me, nor will you ever put in the effort to actually build anything.

I wear the mouse out with my fingers faster than the mouse wears out my table. The part where my right index finger rests on the left click button has all the paint rubbed off of it, along with the back button that my thumb presses on my Microsoft Explorer 3.0.

I want to replace it, but 50 bucks on the new logitech 510 is more then i want to spend, or am able to.

I'd feel bad if my desk wasn't crappy and purchased from a thrift store to begin with. :D

Do NOT get glass for an optical mouse. Your mouse won't work. The glass will act as a mirror.

"Quality" surfaces? Please... you just bought something stupid and are justifying it. at most you need a mousepad with a wrist rest.

Lol who said I bought one? I'm considering getting one but I don't need to justify anything. Personally I don't like wrist wrests either.
