I have to admit I was a bigot when I was younger (my grandmother basically raised me and she is an old southern lady). Now I have had: black, white, asian, hispanic and *gasp* gay friends. I no longer judge people because of their skin or sexuallity but just try to be nice to everyone and be friends with whoever will be my friend.

My mom is an incorrigible bigot.. she's Japanese and they're generally xenophobic, so she has prejudices against other Asians as well as black and gay people.

I've never found bigotry to be a flattering or even acceptable quality in a human, so I do my best to reject the mindset with which I was raised. I have many friends who are minorities now.

I don't really care about race at all; it depends on their personality. On the other hand, homosexuality is not good at all. I have no gay friends, and I would not want any. It's immoral and not something to be a part of.

I'm in the same boat as you.

Southern boy, raised by grandparents. I was very, very, very prejudiced as a kid. I'd never seen a black person until I was like 6 or 7.

I've gotten over it since then.

Whose morals? It's a victimless "offence" since both parties are consentual adults and it hurts no one. Murder, stealing and cheating on your spouse is immoral -not two fems diving into one another after a couple drinks. Heck you may even be able to parley that into a three way:)

I'm an equal opportunity discriminator, I hate everyone but me.

Shortly after graduating high school, I tried to be the 'tolerant 90's guy' that every pundit was proclaiming I should be. I was especially intolerant of homosexuals, but I decided that it wasn't any one's business what I do in my bedroom, nor was it my business what anyone else did.

So there were several homos at some places that I worked and in my classes in college. I just tried to be civil and decent to them, treating them no differently than I would anyone else. Big mistake...

Every time I was friendly to them, it was like some big freaking billboard popped out of the top of my head that said "Go ahead and hit on me, I might be gay, too! No really! And make sure to be extremely obnoxious and vulgar about it, too."

Its almost as if queers are so accustomed to getting their asses beat, if you don't beat their ass on sight, then you must not be so offended by them that you may be a closet queer yourself.

Now I just ignore them and try to maintain a few dozen foot radius from any queer.

According to the Bible homosexuality is a sin. It's what I believe quite strongly. If some of you don't agree with me that's perfectly fine.

Does anyone else find this statement just a bit hypocritical??

It's not one of the 10 Commandments nor one of the 7 Deadly Sins. I think many churches interpret homosexuality to be a sin but where does God or Jesus say it outright?

Not at all. It is rather well known and agreed that the Japanese are a xenophobic culture, generally speaking of course. A culture must be defined by its norms, not its exceptions, and the norm among the Japanese is pretty intense bigotry, against other Asians such as the Chinese, especially.

Remember a certain Japanese figure head making rather bigoted statements against blacks (basically calling them lazy parasites, in so many words) about a decade ago? His sentiments were widely applauded and shared among the Japanese while they were being viewed with outrage here in the US.

i was watching bible tv the other night and they were discussing this... it was a pretty big stretch the way they were saying it was a sin.
