Did you take the weights out of your mx510?

Honestly, if you need to pull the weight out of the mouse, you need to start working out some... I'm not talking about pocket pool, but doing something real to get your arms stronger. I get bored with a game LONG before my arm gets tired (or even thinks about getting tired) from a simple mouse.

Oh, and I do have the MX510 mouse, and it's not that heavy. Then again, I'm no whimp.

It is about doing everything possible to get even the slightest edge over your opponent. Gamers take out the MX500/510 weight for the same reason they spend money on fancy mouse pads (for their optical mice) and teflon mouse skates. Or still prefer using a CRT over LCD or spend hours tweaking their config.

I would be surprised if anyone takes out the weight just because the mouse was too heavy out of the box.

I play hockey 4 nights a week and work out every second day. It isn't that my wrist gets tired, its just that the mouse isn't as quick when I want to pick it up.

I am really looking for someone who has tried it to say if they have been able to get the weights back in if they don't like it.

For me, the MX510 is more than fast enough. If anything, it's too fast... If you want to give removing the weight a shot, (as one competitor to the company I work for says) just do it... Worst case, you won't like it and you'll just put it back in... Another option would be to shave off some of the weight and do it in stages. That way you can find what works best for you, since no weight might be too light.

i never knew there were weights in a mouse... you mean all this time, i've been lifting weights and didn't know it.. I always wondered why i turned into such a buff SOB.

Just took the weight out of mine...this is weird. This may take some time getting used to. But tell you what..the weight does make a difference. I'll post back tomorrow after a little CS.

Edit: The scroll now is more quieter than stock..I must have put it back together wrong..but I kind of like it.

I kept the weight in my MX510 and Mouseman Dual Optical. They feel too flimsy (like MS mice) with the weight out. Oddly enough, I can't stand the weight of the cordless mice. I do use my mouse on a cloth mousepad, so there is more friction, but I think that's a good thing. Hard mousepads don't give me enough control.

Someday there will be a cordless mouse with the same weight as the Mouseman Dual Optical and I can die a happy man. 😛

Lets see, I am moving the mouse and..... Nope, my bicepts, tricepts, chest, back, and legs are not really involved with the process. Go figure. My Fingers, hands, wrist and, to a degree, my forearm seems to be doing all the moving. Maybe pocket pool is the best exercise for pc gaming cuz I doubt any amount of benching, curling or squatting will affect my use of a mouse.

Oh and I have a MX700 mouse, and it's not that heavy. Really. Then again, I'm no whimp. 😉
