Studied the test booklet you got when you signed up like an hour the night before, got a 1440 :) I started shaking like halfway through the test and I was like, WTF? Turns out I had mono :( 1 month later I was allright but from the day I took the SAT for like the next week or two I slept like 14 hours a day.

Never EVER study for these tests. By the time you are done studying and going to take the test, you are too burnt out on the material to focus on it.

The best thing to do is to unwind the night before. Hang out with friends, watch a movie, just take your mind off it it. Then, get to bed early (like, 11:00?) and you'll be in good shape. Dress comfortably too. It'd be hard to focus if you are pissed about your shoe being tied too tight.

I don't know that I'd agree that you should never study. IMHO, it is best to study enough to know how to recognize the types of questions and know the methods to use to find the answer without reading the directions during the test - that will save you time. However, there probably isn't much need to do additional studying above and beyond that, assuming you do well in your regular classes at school.

When I took the PSAT earlier this fall, I found that the math section (and I've been told this is true on the SAT as well) is mostly logic (something I don't think I'm that good at). My TI-89 was only pressed into service about two times. Oh, and none of the problems require any sort of graphing calculator. Just get a (much less expensive) scientific calculator.

Anyway, I'm taking the SAT early next year, and I'm not studying...much. Hey, if it doesn't work out well, I'm only in 10th grade, so I have two more chances after this one. :)

Nope.. you have something like 6 more chances. There are about three each year IIRC.

I read the Princeton Review SAT Book and that may have helped a bit. What was the most helpful were the 5 to 7 practice tests I took in the days leading up to the test. I started taking practice tests on that monday before the test...I had read the review book the summer before (and I took the test in May...haha, so it had been awhile) but did some review of it before I started doing the practice tests. Got a 1480 the first and only time I took it. I probably would have done fine without any studying...but I didn't want to take it twice like a lot of my friends did, so I studied a bit.

Fill out the table -- first column, 3 + x = 19

so x = 16

last row -- 19 + y = 30

y = 11.

Since the second column adds up to 11, you know that the first empty cell on top has to be 6.

Built-in bookcases are the first row. Add up 3 and 6 and you get 9.

to double check, you know that the first empty cell on the second row is 16.

16 + 5 = 21

9 + 21 = 30

I didn't study and got a 1240 or something, all I know is I am one of the dumbest around here. :( It was good enough for an out of state student to get into UW though.

i took the PSATs (i thought the P meant practice, no scholarship for me)... and got 1400 something going into it. figured i could do better so i bought one of those books with sample questions and answers.

then i got arrested about a month and a half before my test date, so i got grounded since well that was really really bad. so i went over like 3-4 tests and read the common words. did a lot better than my PSAT and got ungrounded because my parents i guess though i redeemed myself.

I took the practice test that comes with the application....scored in the 1300's
But I remember taking that damn test...it was in my HS cafeteria and I was like
right underneath the air vent which was blowing really cold air...damn them....

Ugh, then I remember taking my SAT II in the same place. I got the SAT I
test and I was like ummm....hmmm... About right before they started the test
the instructor asked if anyone by chance was taking the SAT II. And I was the
only dang person to raise their hand...it was a crowded cafeteria mind you.
So I had to move to the very back of the cafeteria and sit infront of this lady
(like 2 ft away) so she could personally time my test since it's different than
SAT I....damn them...
