I got NFS Hot Pursuit 2 the other week. Great fun! Too bad it's going on the shelf once VICE CITY comes out 😀
 
No, I ran around a city stealing cars and punching people enough when I played GTA 2; I tend to go for games that offer novelty.

If you haven't gotten SOCOM, get it. It's worth every penny. Even more so if you have a network adaptor for PS2.

I'm not really into FPS w/ controller, plus it doesn't work w/ the Amazon coupon (Buy 2 get 1 free (19.99-49.99)

I'm thinkin bout Tony Hawk 4 now...even though I got sick of 3, 4 looks to be pretty promising, and the Hawk games never disappoint.

I was in ebgames two days ago getting preowned copy of halo, and that guy in the keep telling everyone that that was the last day to reserve your copy of Vince city, and that "No no no, you have to reserve it if you want to play it soon...."

I just found it funny.

Wow, its nice that they still have Tony Hawk 4 pre-orders when the game came out last week.

What a joke. If you think its going to be easy getting a copy of Vice City when it comes out, you're sadly mistaken.
 
Unforunately, no, I just spent $700 upgrading my computer :\. Guess I'll have to wait till Christmas and stay away from the "OMG GTA:VC IS SO COOL" threads 🙂

Reserve wise, we destroyed the competition. We had over 2x the amount of reserves any other carrier has.

We were sold out of the 10/30 release date back in early September.

However, they are still taking the 11/4 reserves. The nice thing about that is that if someone doesn't pick up their 10/30 reserve, we'll sell it to the 11/4 people 🙂

Sony and Rockstar signed an agreement earlier this year. Sony paid Rockstar in excess of several million dollars to make all GTA games from now til the end of 2004 PS2 exclusive.

There will be no Vice City for PC.

The PS2 exclusive deal was signed well after GTA3 came out for PC.

I'll say it again, Vice City won't be on PC. Rockstar is very open about the games they are developing. If they were going to put Vice on PC, we'd know by now.

Not like its a big loss. Last time they put out a GTA on the PC, it was buggy, slow, and had maybe 2 or three differences from the console game, which apparently it took them months to code. If I wanted to play the console version, well, my roommate has a PS2. I wanted a PC version of this game (and in case Rockstar didnt notice, hardly anyone uses SAVE POINTS with a PC game... that one really pissed me off), so I bought it to run on my PC, and it still had all the hallmarks of a console game.

In conclusion, Rockstar could go down on me and I wouldn't give a sh!t.
 
I ordered it yesterday from Best Buy for $39.99. I'm not expecting to get it quickly. As long as it shows up in the next two weeks, I'll be happy.
 
How long does GameStop give you to pick up the game? I don't think I'll be able to make it tomorrow to pick it up.
 
My guess is that while the Sony deal may make GTA an exclusive for PS2 until 2004, Rockstar won't be missing out on opportunities with other consoles for a whole year.

Hypothetical Scenario: Rockstar makes a sister game for GTA:VC known as "Vice City: Undercover". This game uses the same environment as GTA:VC but it allows you to play from the perspective of an undercover police officer. Because the city and much of the coding remains the same, development time is shortened. Also, it may not be included in the Sony deal since it is not a 'Grand Theft Auto' franchise game--rather it is a complete spinoff. This may allow it to be a multiplatform game, or Rockstar can shop this around to MS and Nintendo to see if they want exclusive rights to the "Undercover" franchise (hell they could do a "Liberty City: Undercover" game too?) Of course I know jack about the terms of the Sony contract, and it may be ironclad to the point that no other game using GTA, Vice City or any of the characters can be on another console until 2004. I just think that Rockstar (hot off the success of GTA3) would have some bargaining power so they're not locked into one console market, no matter how much Sony pays them.
 
Yeah, but if you were an undercover cop in the game, you probably wouldn't go around killing people and causing a ruckus, which is half the fun of GTA.
