what instrument? how many hours? for how many years?

how did you feel about it then? how do you feel about it now? do you still play?

Piano, 1-2 hours, 6 years

Edit:

Feel about it then - Liked it when I did it for myself, hated it when I had to do it for playing the Organ at church on sunday.

Now - I don't play, wish I had never stopped. Trying to get one at my place so I can continue.

clarinet 1 year, it was ok.
tenor saxophone 1 year, enjoyed it but the band teacher was an ass and always picked on me.

I think I had to play each 40min a day, monday-friday, at the least.

I wouldn't mind being able to play tenor sax now, it would be fun. But I quit both, and it felt good.

Piano for 8 years
Violin for 12
Viola for 6

Hated them all because I would rather play video games. I had some talent, so I still ended up pretty good, but if I had put effort into it I would've had a decent chance at San Francisco Youth Symphony with the violin. I haven't played in 2 years, and i'd go play right now but my bow needs rehairing, and i'm too lazy to get it done.

Skin flute? Flesh organ? 😀 Sorry.

I didn't as a youth, but I'm trying to find time to learn piano now in my 20s. I'd like to graduate to latin piano eventually. I know that now that it's something I value, I'd spend the requisite time practicing and getting good. Like PoPPeR, I just wanted to play video games instead.

I played the bass (real bass, not electric) in grade school for 2 years. Boring instrument.

I played electric guitar from 16 to 23 when my guitar was stolen. After a 10 year break, I just bought a new guitar (Jackson DK2) and have been playing for 3-4 hours a day for the past week. I'm a bit rusty of course, but its funner than ever.

I played the Clarinet for a while, but I was never good because I didnt practice... Same with the Violin.

Played guitar everyday since high school for countless amount of hours. I'd fall asleep on my guitars, wake up, play for hours again, repeat.

Yeah back in grade school/college I was singing and playing sax for at least an hour each day, usually more during peak marching band/musical seasons.

I still sing a lot and play on occasion but not nearly as much as I used to or would like to.

played drums for 7 years almost everyday, became married w/ children which changed it to everyother weekend, maybe. Soon as we find a house, I am getting a new set and shall play much more often

I tried piano for few years of my grade school days only to find out i wasnt really cut out for playing instruments of any sort..

Trumpet, 1/2 hour to 2 hours a day, fifth grade through senior year of high school. I still pull it out once a month or so and run through some scales and some of my favorite songs.

Piano about 6-7 yrs for 1hr a day. Hated it. Although I wish I could still play, but now I can barely read notes and my fingers are quite stiff.

Oh, yeah, piano 24/7 - if I didn't have a real piano I'd do the fingering on the table or in my head. Then I discovered the bass guitar, joined a bunch of bands, had a great time.

I still play piano, it keeps me sane. Nothing like a few Bach fugues to put the brain back to normal after a stressful day.

edit - my father was a jazz pianist, so there was nothing abnormal about playing piano all day at my house.
