I took my test in a old chevy conversion van which I couldn't parallel park at all. So when the patrolman asked me to parallel park I sort of got my ass end in and said Done! I lost 10 points but I did'n't get flunked for hitting a cone or curb. I still passed. :)

First try, passed. Took our own ride, the one I've practiced with. Took only around 15 minutes to complete the test. Been 8yrs ever since, drove like a maniac during the early years, still do once in a blue moon. Zero accidents so far *knocks on wood*

I believe my first accident will most likely be my last....

Yep. Got a 100 on the written and I think it was 98/100 on the driving part. The driving part was kind of cool, I got a young guy, around 23 and we ended up talking most of the time. He did mark me off because he said that I parked too close at the end to some other car. Boo. When I took the driving part of the test I think I drove once before that, I really never used my permit, heh. My parents actually made me get it.

Maybe hit a pedestrian, repeatedly? :)

I've actually known a few people who failed it, but they never read the book and just took the test.

100% on the permit test (after taking 3 days for driver's training class in HS)
98% on driving test (after changing lanes w/o instruction to do so).

My driver training teacher's nickname for me was "Mario Andretti" for driving like a maniac (safely however).

Perfect on the written test, then i got "The Fat Bitch" for the Driver's test with whom everybody fails. I thought I did perfectly, except she docked me 15 overall... which was the maximum allowed, so i passed the fat bitch ;)

I got 4 wrong on the written part but still passed. The woman gave me a funny look since all the questions I got wrong were about alcohol. Aced my driving test though. I was suprised since everything went wrong. As we pulled away, the second rear-view mirror fell off into the DMV womans lap. Luckily I pulled the car over to the side, switched to park and put the emergency flashers on. She had a big smile on her face and told me to drive on. Next comes the parallel park. Most people have it easy, having 1 car infront of them and nothing in back of them. Well not me, I had a Minivan parked infront of me (which was parked crooked), an SUV behind me and a damn tree that broke the curb and was hanging over the tree. Some how I got into that space no problem. Finally when we're driving back, I come to a stop sign and a crosswalk were people were walking. It was an elderly couple with canes, so it took forever for them to cross. I kept saying to myself "Wait till they're on the sidewalk, wait till they're on the sidewalk". Then I got the "On behalf of the New York State Deparment of Motor Vehicles, congratulations, you passed your test. Sign here now".

Failed my first hands-on test. Didn't reduce to first gear at a street corner ... a bummer.
But on the second test I had no problems.
