did you lock in your home heating oil prices when oil was at record highs over the summer/fall?

everyone was predicting record oil prices, possibly $200 per barrel this past summer, and now it's hovering around $40.

by the same token, they were all saying that the cost to heat your home would rise proportionally due to crude oil prices being high.

i love it when so called "experts" make wrong predictions.

Nope. First fill this winter was at $3.17 a gallon. I've used about 1/8 of it.

I will probably fill up once more this season. Definitely if not during, at the end of winter, to buy at a lower price.

how big of an apt, in what city/state and what do you keep the tstat at?
that seems kind of high, but i really can't say because i don't have exp. with electric heating costs.

natural gas for my 1200 sq ft apt costs $30/month, but i'm rarely home and even when i am i use a space heater because i'm usually in the bedroom.

wow that is cheap! The best quote that I got was $2.18. Maybe I should shop around more or find a new vendor.

My natural gas company keeps sending those lock-in offers each year right around the peak prices (often as the prices are going up). I reject it every time. They never send the lock-in offers when prices are going down or at a season when natural gas prices are low.

One day, I'll keep that offer letter and turn it in at the lowest price of the year. But, I've been too lazy to consider it so far. It isn't like heating costs are that high for me. I use a space heater and keep rooms that I'm not in at 55°F.

The prices started dropping right before our contract was set to renew so we canceled our budget billing. I made sure we got a confirmation and it's a good thing because a month later they tried to auto-bill us as usual saying we never canceled.
