In fact, legal slavery did end. Slavery is illegal in every country of the world. Nonetheless there are more slaves today than ever before: 27 million, twice as many as the number of Africans enslaved during the four centuries of the transatlantic slave trade, according to a calculation that slavery expert Kevin Bales calls conservative. Bales, a sociologist at Roehampton University in London who spoke at the UUA's 2003 General Assembly, estimates that 50,000 people are forced to work as slaves in the United States today.

and this is news? is t here anyone that didn't know this? slavery was not just the blacks (btw whites were slaves too in teh US) in the US but nearly EVERY race and culture and sadly it still goes on.

but i suspect this is just a troll thread.

How can this possibly be construed as a troll thread? What if you found out there was a slave on your street.

Wealthy people in New York, London, Paris, and other Western cities have promised young women jobs as nannies or household help and a chance to go to school, then forced them to work without pay. Like prostitution, slavery will never go away. It is part of human nature, and nothing can change that. Evolution, you see, dictates that slavery is a necessity for human civilization. Look back through history and you will see the evidence for this. So-called 'progressives' will try to argue otherwise, but thinking men, like myself, know better. Everyone knows this.

there's millions of (unofficial) slaves in arab states like UAE and kuwait. desperately poor workers are recruited from india and africa. once in the country, their passports are confiscated, they're paid a fraction of what's promised and they live like livestock. this is not to be confused with the luxurious compounds built for europeans and chinese to live in while working in the arab states.

I know that that it is ~80% non-native...
 
1) I don't own any slaves.
2) I knowingly get no tangible benefit from anyone owning slaves.
3) I don't know anyone who owns slaves, nor do I know anyone who is a slave.

Therefore, I think it's a terrible thing...and that ends my "give-a-shit."

Yeah, but they are getting cool skyscrapers and man made islands from all of that.
 
What you're saying is people with dark skin not from Africa are not okay with Africans being referred to as black. Yet they are okay with the word negro. Which means black just in another language. You say they are not black they are nergo, but the word's one in the same. You are telling us to not use a word and instead use a different word, which is the same word?
