Did you know AIM limits the number of consecutive messages you can send?

I just found this out :)

Under the SEND button is a set of red-yellow-green bars.. as you send messages, those bars dissappear. If you lose all your bars, you can't send again until you get back to yellow... takes about a minute.

That sucks!

technically i don't think it does. It just limits the number of consecutive messages you can send in a certain period of time. I bet you could probably send a million messages if you had the time to wait.

figured it out a while ago. when i used Microsoft Messenger (back when it could interface with AIM), it had an even lower limit. sometimes i would exceed it just typing normally.

yep, and when you send messages with Trillian it doesn't have a limit so if you send messages too fast AIM's server thinks your flooding and it logs you out.

You can also get rid of the dumb AOL advertisement banner...search on google for a program called DeadAIM .

deadaim is kinda buggy for me. I had a similar problem when I used deadaim on 98, and now on XP sometimes when i'm logging on after step 3 aim just dissapears and i need to restart it again. not a big problem, just f*in annoying.

Really?..strange, I use it with XP..had it originally on 2k, then upgraded to XP, did not notice any problems.

Another way to remove the ads in AIM is to open AIM.ODL and NETWAIT.ODL in notepad and put a semicolon in front of "load_ocm advert" (there are 2 instances in each file). This will leave a blank spot where the ads would normally go.
