Did you hear Bush sound (even more) like a fool today?

Take what, a bunch of dopes correcting my spelling? The reason I thought the source of Howard Stern was being attacked is that I was expecting people to defend Bush by attacking my source, of which i had no proof. I can see by all this focus on my spelling and punctuation, rather than the content of what I said, that no one doubts Bush is an idiot or is capable of sounding so.

My point is that if you judge someone an idiot based on how they speak, you're an f-ing moron.

At least you can correct your typing before you post. He had to just move on.

A speech impedement, like the lisp of New York's former mayor (sorry I'm not positive how to spell his last name "Guliani"?, and I don't want any of you to crap your pants) is one thing. Despite his lisp, he is a great orator, a brilliant man, and I'll even bet he makes up some of his own stuff that he says. The president is one man, out of 300 million or so citizens. He should be great, not average, and should be held to a higher standard than your average joe. Not to say that he should be infallible, but he should be someone with talent and some smarts. G.W. has no special talent, other than being born into a politically involved and wealthy family. We went from Rhode (?) scholar to dunce in the white house.

If glibness is all that is important, Hitler was the greatest politician of modern time.

Actually, I think Reagan was better. Reagan was not a great intellect but at least he could communicate what thoughts he had and those provided for him by speechwriters.

uhhh you need to to read nancy's book she wrote.

in it it states how she ran the country and consulted with "miss cleo" while she was doing it.

Unfortunately I think that how you speak is profoundly reflective of how you think. All the evidence points to the fact that Bush can't think. It points out, too, that his degrees from Yale and Harvard are totally fraudulent, just like his Presidency. But even sadder to say is that I, as a bleeding heart liberal who, it seems must take the side of the underdog, feel a profound sympathy and sadness for Bush as he struggles to appear fitting of his position. Here's a guy that's going to kill my fellow American service men and God know how many Iraqis and I feel sorry for him that he can barely talk. It's mystifying.

Trust me . . . I really don't need to read Nancy's book. Reagan was an acting President when he could remember, Nancy's flaky, and the country didn't fall apart. We generally picked fights with people we could beat (Grenada) and if we couldn't beat them we knew how to exit (Beirut). Arguably that means Reagan, Nancy, and Miss Cleo were a stronger team than Kennedy, Nixon, and Johnson.

Well if you are the average American I'd say he's a pretty good representative (at least representation)

LOL! 😀

You sound like you are from Florida.

HEY! :|

If you are so intelligent then why aren't you posting this from the white house right now?

Thought so...😉

Lighten up, Moonbeam. His degrees aren't fraudulent. They just exemplify the advantages of wealth in America. Contrary to popular belief this is not a meritocracy on any level except professional sports. And even there you want to be the Yankees and not the Pirates (granted the Mets have money).

Bush does use his limited skills of comprehension and oration. I think that's why he mangles so much English. It's the intersection of his own ideas and what's been written for him that overwelms his mental faculties. His pathology is further complicated by publicly reading material he's not familiar with.

Like I said before, he needs rehearsed talking points EVERY TIME he MIGHT face questions. Anything extemporous should be limited to his ranch, wife, daughters, dogs, baseball, etc. Bush is another reason I oppose the Patriot Act and the current Homeland Security Plan. If he's chief executive material we definitely need to keep that position relatively weak. I think Bush could do a good job in the bully pulpit but I really don't want him doing a lot for me. Granted, that's what all good conservatives say about government . . . way back in the 90s we were much greater in number.

Reagan wasn't that bad as president, in fact he was a great leader and a charismatic president. At least he was a confident figurehead who made up his mind and went with it, even if he was a little headstrong. A leader should be able to do just that. He should instill confidence in those he represents and leads, not cast doubt on his own abilities. No matter what anyone says, your speech may not be the sole reflection of who you are and how smart you are, but it does greatly effects the perception others have of you. Even though Churchill was a stutterer, he had the charisma and confidence to be a strong leader that a nation could follow. G.W. has neither. It is important that the president at least appear to be eloquent and articulate, particularly when public speaking and addressing the nation are such a big part of the job description. The president has advisors and teams that help do everything down to wiping his arse, but they can't always be the ones speaking for him. When he does speak, he should do so as a presidential figure with the poise of a presidential figure. MY POINT: Public speaking isn't the only important aspect of being president, but it is a large part of his responsibilities and is perhaps the best way for him to connect with the nation, and the world outside his aides.

I'm not in the whitehouse because I don't belong there. Neither does G.W.

The clip is REALLY funny, and it's in video, too. It's on the daily show. If you tune in right now, they'll probably play it at the end of the show.

"Fool me once, shame on......................
...........shame on you...........
If you fool me you won't fool me again."

I realize that talking live isn't easy, but he's the f'n PRESIDENT. That's part of his JOB.

Bali, I don't mean fraudulent in the sense of forgeries, I mean that he couldn't not himself have done the work required to obtain those degrees and have the verbal skills he demonstrates.

I saw that on TV, must have been yesterday. My girlfriend and I were eating dinner, and when he came on.. our attention turned to the TV. Then he said that.. and we busted up laughing.. lol..

Heard the clip on the radio this morning. Bush was trying to say the old quote "fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice shame on me", and he f'ed up miserabley. He got the first half ok, but then paused for like 8 seconds because he forgot the rest, he stuttered, and then just said "you cant fool us again" really fast and flusterd. He sounded like a complete fool. How can he not be able to complete that quote. I tell you, there has never been a worse speaker or a bigger idiot in the whitehouse. If anyone can find the link to that please post. it was on howard stern today, and no it was not a parady or a altered tape.

I must have missed your speech today.

Talking over a microphone to people live like that isn't easy.

No kidding :Q I'd love to see this bozo clown around on stage :frown: Bush is doing a good job. If he's intimidated by public speaking, that doesn't make him any less potent as a President. He's a damn good one.

He's doing a good job, but I wouldn't call him a "damn good" president. He hasn't done anythign extraordinary... the decisions he has been faced with have been relatively simple where the solution is obvious (at least the solution that is popular with the majority of Americans). Not to take away anything from the difficulty of being the leader of the free world... it seems apparent to me that any capable politician (Gore would be one example) could've done the same job Bush did.

Here's another different video
It's a little long... if you don't have time skip to around 4:00-4:15 and 6:00

Btw, please don't misconstrue my post as Bush-bashing or Gore-fanboyism as it's not intended to be either.

That website with all the dumb things he said is the best! I am sure this will be added to the HUGE list.

One other funny thing he did was...

A canadian comedian acted as a news reporter during a press conference with bush. The candian asked about how prime minister "insert fake name here" though about such and such. Bush just spat out some BS answer not commenting on how the guy said a name that didn't sound remotly near the actual prime ministers name.

I disagree. Even elite institutions have multiple pathways to degrees that do not require competent extemp. Trust me, Socrates has been dead a long time. 20th century institutions of higher learning were filled with professors interested in little more than the sound of their voices. I bet Bush was a great cheerleader at Andover. He got the job done at Yale as a ugrad. UT-Austin school of law gave him the Heisman but Harvard Business School welcomed him with open arms. He probably should have studied more so he could claim one successful business out of a collection of startups/takeovers . . . before the peanut gallery gets started; he owned 5% of the TX Rangers on borrowed money that does not make him a success. It makes him fortunate.

Regardless, I think Bush is a generally honest fellow. He didn't cheat his way through Yale and Harvard he just found paths of least resistance. Now his business dealings . . . those look sketchy.
