I got $4 every time I mowed the back lawn and $3 every time I mowed the front lawn. The back lawn was twice as large as the front lawn and grew twice as fast. Damn thing usually took me an hour and a half to mow.

In high school I would also get money for food ($10 a week) and I would get $3 for every A I got (I had to pay them a dollar if I got a B).

When living with my parents as a kid up to ~13 I think I got $10 a month. After ~$50 and would also use these to buy clothes, stopped when I finished highschool at 19 and I got a job.
When I moved away to my own appartment I now get $344 a month, still studying at university. :)

my parents would give us money for good grades, but didn't really want us doing chores. they'd always say that as long as we study, they'd do everything for us (which was true).

no set allowance, just pretty much here and there. but i never felt that I needed money, even when I got a job at 13, for the first 4 months, my paycheques just accumulated because I wasn't used to making (and spending) money.

I never got an allowance. When I eventually wanted a car my dad said "you have a bike that will get you to a job". So I rode my bike to my job till I bought a Jeep and I've been making my own money since I got the job.

As far as chores I wasn't stupid enough to think I should be paid. If I would have been I'm sure my dad would have charged me rent, food, utilities, taxi service, etc. and I would have had to get a job to pay the balance.

My child will not get an allowance. Of course I do put money back for her future.

I didn't get a red cent as a kid, even though I'd had to work around the house. I think it was because we're an Indian family, and my parents are 1st gen immies.

Allowance just seemed unnatural to me. What would a kid want with a few bucks a week?

I used to get $5/week while my older brother got $10/week :( He always got $10/week and I always got $5/week, although I should have gotten $10/week when I became older... lifes not fair! :(

I never spent any money anyways, but I had to pay for my meals if I wasn't home. In a way im glad I didn't get tons of money per week like some people I knew, it just taught them how to spend money. Now that im in college and my parents don't give me any extra money it's nice to know how to save some :)

Not really..

I never had an "allowance" per say, but if I ever needed money, my Dad would give it to me unless we didn't have it.
