to someone, and then re-read and just delete it?
going with your second thought is probably a good idea most of the time.
 

Heh, I once typed up a 2000-word email (on webmail) and pressed "Save Draft" and the email disappeared. It was nowhere to be found.

I was really mad, but then I realized that the email would have really strained my relationship with its receiver.

no, but I've had it where I hit something by accident and it deletes the whole thing and I'm very sad

The cloest thing I can relate to was I used to write my thoughts down when I was especially pissed at my wife(GF at the time) so I could get it out of my system and clarify my thoughts. Difference being, I forgot that autosave was on and DIDN"T delete it... oops :)

I always write long emails on a word processor first and then paste them to the email client, so no.

I've done that before. I am doing my best now to keep personal/emotional things out of email.
