Did you ever believe in Santa Claus?

I had my reservations. I would notice that the From: Santa Claus on the tag was written in my mom's hand writing and I used to lift prints off the packages with my detective kit. I used to think Santa wold have a snowflake fingerprint pattern instead of a whorl or loop pattern, etc. Then I noticed how from year to year, sitting on Santa's lap his eyes were different colors. There was this one who had greasy hands like he just got done working on his merry ol' Buick.

What's say you?

Of course I did. Then one day I finally rationalized it to myself that Santa wasn't real.....:(.......then many years later I became a father and then came to the realization that I was Santa and that made me happy.

That's the magic of childhood , till you know better. Any child would will believe what their parents tell them until they have reason to believe otherwise.

I was never able to catch my parents putting presents under the tree. My mom has told me stories of how they got very little sleep, often times staying up till 3AM just to get the job done. Then at about 7AM we all ran into their bed room. "Mom, dad! Santa came!!!" LMAO!

When I had a newspaper route and was delivery the paper on Christmas morning you could hear door to door all of the kids saying, OH! Wow! and being happy, etc.

Of course. Santa's the best part of jul. It was fun stringing my daughter along also. I used to have her email Santa her wish list to a suitably authentic looking address. I also nipped questions I had growing up in the bud. Santa contracts out most of the gifts. The elves only make the handmade items :^D

I nipped the santa fever in the bud early. Santa brings 1 gift person, and it's usually something like a puzzle, art supplies, old school games, or maybe LEGO.

I did until 6 or 7, when I learned how big the Earth is and the logistics of the whole thing.

I was too poor for gifts. I usually gave her one or two crappy presents, and Santa brought the rest ;^)
No. My parents drew a line at lying to their kids. Erodes any trust.
I encouraged my daughter to trust in herself, and be skeptical of everyone else, including me. Challenge everything. If something seems wrong it might be.

In the meantime I gave her the gift of magic so the world could be awesome instead of shitty reality.

My earliest memory regarding Santa is pretending to believe in him because my parents wanted me to believe and I wanted presents, but I'm sure I must have actually believed at some point.

Santa Claus has a Canadian mailing postal code: H0H 0H0

In North American tradition (in the United States and Canada), Santa lives on the North Pole, which according to Canada Post lies within Canadian jurisdiction in postal code H0H 0H0 (a reference to "ho ho ho", Santa's notable saying, although postal codes starting with H are usually reserved for the island of Montreal in Québec). On 23 December 2008, Jason Kenney, Canada's minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, formally awarded Canadian citizenship status to Santa Claus. "The Government of Canada wishes Santa the very best in his Christmas Eve duties and wants to let him know that, as a Canadian citizen, he has the automatic right to re-enter Canada once his trip around the world is complete," Kenney said in an official statement.

sometimes I still check out NORAD Santa tracking:

Yea, and the sandman, easter bunny and the tooth fairy. However never fell for the god thing, somethings tales were just too over the top absurd to swallow.

It was the direction of payments that I found problematic.

I pulled the beard of santa when I was about 3 years old. Some of the other kids started crying.

I did at some point, but when I was 5-6 my sister found where our parents were hiding the presents. I don't remember how I felt about it. I do know that we had a tradition of trying to find them for the next few years...
