Did you donate money?

Currently planning on donating $2500 or so. All of which my company will match dollar for dollar.

No, I havent...

I would much rather use my vacation time from work and go down and help instead of provide money (that I'm not even sure will make it to the people who need it)

You can usually be pretty confident that the reputable charities are putting your money to good use. It may not specifically go to Katrina victims....but it'll go to someone/something who needs help.

I probably won't, to repeat my charity PSA:

Remember your local charities still need money to help people in your own state.

Whenever a disaster like this hits, many people donate as much as they can to Red Cross and they end up with more money than they can use, while people stop supporting local charities because they are broke.

The radio station I listen to collected over $60,000 in donations yesterday, so I'll be sending a check off to Northwest Harvest (Washington state food bank supplier) instead.

i refuse to donate. everyone down there has/had one way or another to get out of the city. if they die in the process, it means they are not fit enough to continue life.

sad but true, i consider this a bit of accelerated darwinism.

i have been laid off from my job and have veggiefrog's wedding to pay for as well as thousands in credit card bills.

i do not have money.. but what i do have is computer parts. a closet full of computer parts. so, i am getting them in order to list for sale, so i will have money for katrina charities.

I donated a computer monitor to a college student who didn't have enough money to ship his monitor from there to school yet. He is assuming it is destroyed or stolen.

No. I pay my taxes, I contribute in my community, and I don't make the mistake of a) living in a well-known floodplain, b) not evacuating when I'm told to, c) looting, d) not heeding the advice of the USACE.
