every b-day since i turned 18 i made it a must to spend £100 on myself (um, between US$150 to US$180 depending on what year...lol). On my 21st it was a £150 pair of Wharfedale Diamond 7.3 floorstanding speakers 🙂

on my 28th back in Jan it was a £400 ($700ish) glass and brushed steel a/v stand 🙂

if you can find them however, i'd also recommend u listen to Monitor Audio's Gold Reference 10's as well if you interested in standmounted speakers......obviously depends on what you want to listen to on them, but they are definitely good competition to the B&W's.....they more suited to acoustic material tho like jazz, classical, indie, rock etc, they can thump out dance and hip-hop, but the B&W's probably just clinch the title for that stuff....

also Rotel is very good 🙂

i've just finished setting up a home cinema setup, next stop will be the stereo hifi, prolly going for Cyrus or Musical Fidelity for the amp/CD player side...not sure on speakers yet..
