Did you buy the Maxtor 20 Gig Staples HD last week?

I bought the 20 Gig HD at Staples last week and noticed that I have until 3/24/01 (postmark) to send it in. The rebate form requires that you send in "Include UPC and sales receipts in an envelope". Question: Can I send in copies of the UPC and receipt or do I have to send in the originals (especially the receipt). If so this really puts a crimp on us if we have to return the drive.

By the way, did anyone buy the Delta 50X CDROM and 56K modem also at Staples? I found both to be of inferior quality and back they went. Thanks for the info.

The local Staples and 1-800-3STAPLE told me that we can send the original UPCs to Maxtor for the IDE controller rebate and copies of the UPC to Staples for the HD rebate -- even though the $20 HD rebate coupon given out by the stores says the original UPC is needed. Also the $20 rebate coupon available online at staples.com doesn't explicity require the original UPC.

Staples ALWAYS accepts copied UPCS for rebates.
Must I be the first to mention this does not belong here?

Bought just one of the 50x Delta cdrom. It installed just fine and now running pretty good in my kid's computer. I'm happy with it.:)

I owned a 44x delta cdrom. It WILL NOT do well with cd burner. I try to copy CD on the fly for 10x (no luck) the best I can do is 4x. After I change to the Prime (afreey) cdrom. Even with 40x Prime CDrom, I can do a 12x on the fly. Delta cdrom is fine, but just not good for cd recording.

Does anyone know if the $50 rebate is good for that 20 GB Hard Drive? The rebate says explicitly that you need to buy another controller in addition to the hard drive. The guy at Best Buy told me that I don't need to buy the controller since it's included in the box. Does anyone know what's true and what's not? Thanks.

It should be valid for the 20gb harddrive since the 20gig has a sticker about the ata100 card on it.

About the rebate: Fax copies in to the rebate center. Doing that got me confirmation of my rebate check withing 3 days of receiving the drive.
