Traded in a bunch of games and walked out with Alan Wake, Dead Island, Driver: SF, Fifa 10, Rage, Dues Ex, and Rugby World Cup for $8. Should keep me busy for a hot minute. I also have Fallout: New Vegas which I haven't put more than 2 hours into.

Really nice list! Other than trying those sports games, I had a ton of fun with all the rest. Its too bad I had to sell Rage cuz the yokel I bought it from didn't include the multiplayer disc, that game really sucked me in for the short time needed to beat it.

The 2 sports games are for a co-worker and I. We get messed up after work sometimes and play Madden but I'm no good, so I picked those up to even the playing field. Neither of us will have any clue how to play.

You probably traded in $200 worth of stuff to get $40 worth of stuff. None of those games are very expensive, most were $5 on Steam recently.

I fail to see what Steam has to do with the situation.

And if he was done with the games he traded in, they were worth exactly $0.

What he got in return was worth far more than what he traded, because he no longer wanted what he had, and wanted those other games instead.

You fail in every possible way. It's no wonder you lean the way you do politically, you have absolutely zero common sense and don't understand a shred of economics...

"Did" implies past tense

"right now" implies present tense

You should have said "Did well at Gamestop just now" or "Doing well at Gamestop right now"

Without knowing what you've traded and what you got for it, it's really meaningless.

Knowing Gamestop, you likely had to trade in a much greater number of games to actually get anything of value.

With gamestop, it's a trade-off.

You can very easily take your old games you are done with and trade them in for credit or cash. However, the amount you get is usually pretty low. This makes sense as Gamestop has to make money by reselling (buy low, sell higher).

The other method is for you to basically become a "gamestop" yourself by selling your old games via ebay/amazon/CL/etc. You can definitely get more money but it will cost you time and hassle.

I was rather disappointed with rugby world cup. I think a lot of that was just me getting spoiled by how excelled Rugby 06 was on the old xbox and just sticking with it for a few years.

I've picked up some decent deals on used DS games that were like new with case and papers. Can't beat $10 JRPGs.

I'm 29 years old... turns out that $115 means nothing... I'm just happy with getting rid of games I was done with and getting new ones. I don't remember all the specifics, but got like $25 for Halo Reach, $18 for Mass Effect.. shit like that. Was expecting far far less.

Yes you can get more money other ways when not trading them in but the tradeoff is the ton more time spent. Ebay which can take forever and sometimes never work out,get scammed, or Craig's List which can take forever too, get scammed, or risk getting kidnapped and anally raped by someone. Go into Gamestop, trade in your games, easy to do. Sometimes I do it, sometimes I don't. You come out ahead anyways either way because at least you're getting something for nothing if you're not playing them.

I recently scored Assassin's Creed 1 for $8 @ Gamestop so you can definitely find deals there.

OP, you're a cool guy and this is all just a bunch of pointless gibberish. Have fun with your games. Alan Wake, Deus Ex, and Driver are solid, Rage is underwhelming (especially compared to the probably even more technically flawed but still more interesting Fallout New Vegas), and I'm not really into FIFA or Rugby so have fun with those. :D I'm not a big fan of Dead Island, it has some interesting stuff but ultimately is too flawed in every area for me to like (and would be unplayable for me on consoles as it has the worst standard FOV I feel like I've encountered so if I couldn't fix that the game would give me a headache).

First, STFU about politics. Chastising someone for mentioning a gaming service and then bringing up politics, you're easily the one making a worse point here.

Second, its well known that Gamestop is not a great place, economically speaking for consumers so your whole spiel there is empty. Good for him if he's happy with his return but trying to bring in economics when Gamestop is known to be horrible in that regard is just senseless. But hey, yay, great you could understand week 1 of Econ 101. Even better is he admits Gamestop screwed him on the MRS, but hey don't let your expert understanding of economics get in the way of your rant or anything.

Lastly, its very possible, I'd say even likely that he has a PC that could play many of those games so he possibly could have gotten even better value out of the situation for little to no effort. Not great to mention in the console subforum, but its hardly some crazy thing. If you're concerned at all about value, Steam sales > anything in the console realm by a wide margin. OP clarified it so its obvious he doesn't, that's fine, can't fault people for making the case and no reason to rant in such a silly manner.

Gamestop should make that a commercial. Hey, we screw you but its better than being kidnapped and anally raped! D:

He could sit on his ass at home and sell his games to Amazon and likely get as good of value as well as being able to spend money on other stuff Amazon offers.

There's several other places that buy used games too. Doesn't even Best Buy? I think even Wal-Mart does but I don't think they do in store. There's other places like Hastings and I'm sure there's several others since the OP lives in Chicago.

I wish I could. The DS selection at my local gamestops is pitifully horrible, and most without cases. And the games that do have cases (and are actually good games), they try to sell them for $20 or more.

Can't complain though, recently picked up DQIX for $10, Chrono Trigger for $20, and 2 copies of The World Ends with You for $20 each. All brand new and sealed.

I'm interested in Driver... You should post what you think of it 8) Probably my next purchase. Of course I'm trying to study for the GRE so I've turned off the XBOX for a couple months at least.

Game on Bill.

I am still playing a bunch of games I got for next to nothing when the local Block Buster closed. Was just playing UFC 2009 last night. Game is fun, and sometimes gets a laugh out of me. Koscheck's face during the promo is F'in hilarious. Rogan has a couple of great lines, like suggesting the booing fans drink a couple more beers and hit the monster truck show. He talks about visiting the big island in Hawaii and BJ Penn being revered there. Says "I never had so many BJ questions....that sounded weird."

Game play is a little limited, but still fun.

Just trying to post something different than the ongoing bitch fest.

all those games you got combined comes out to about $60 if you did any of the recent sales. Still not a bad way to get rid of games, but I don't feel like supporting gamestop is the right way to go.

Good choice on Fifa 10, one of the best ones in the series (and FIFA is one of the best sports series out there, IMO obviously).

Driver was cool and Deus Ex is solid, good choices. Haven't played the rest.
