Did we get some rotten beer?

My buddy went on a beer run Saturday night and came back with 2 12 packs of Bud Ice and a 6 pack of Corona Light because none of us had ever tried Corona before. The first bottle we opened smelled like a skunk.....is Corona supposed to reek or did we get some bad beer. I didn't think it was all that fantastic either way, Bud Ice was better 😉🙂

About half of the bottles of Corona I have smelled were skunky. Which is why I do not drink it in bottles. It is better from a tap. I find beers that are not made locally or probably have been thermally abused tend to smell off.

corona has a "skunky" aroma and taste normally.

Bad beer does not taste like beer at all. It will taste like a cider/beer combination with so many off flavors that you will not mistake it for 'good' beer.

I have found that most microbrew beers have a quality control problem. Sometimes Sam Adams is the best beer in the world, sometimes it is suck.

Try some Bavaria beer next time. It isn't overly expensive and tastes very good, IMO. In fact, I like it a lot better than any Miller, Budweiser or any other.

Edit-

BTW Corona=! Piss

Corona == Mexican Piss

I was going to say that...

And for a cheap/quality compromise...a 30-box of Busch Light for 10.99 is pretty good. And I'll second PBR as the worst. It's the only beer that, fresh, tastes like it's been sitting out in the sun, open, for a week.

It is suggested that a lime be placed into corona to avoid the skunky smell/taste of it. This occurs because corona is packaged in a clear glass bottle which allows for further fermentation/activity of beer. Only a few beers are packaged in clear glass including corona and High Life. High life is modified to prevent further activity of the beer.

Corona = OVERRATED.

IMHO, the best "budget" beer is Michelob and Michelob Amber Bock. Can usually find 6 packs on sale for $3.99.

I would have to agree with you. I didn't think corona was all that great at all. I tried some Dos Equis last weekend, which I thought was pretty good. Also tried Natural Light, but I was so drunk by the time I drank that I don't even think it had a taste. Tried Milwuake Best Ice/Light, but as with the Natural Light, I don't remeber a taste 😱

Bud Ice is too.
