Did video games kill grammar among journalists?

I agree with you. What's worse is that the first sentence that you can read is also grammatically incorrect. There should be no comma after the word "received." Comma use is running rampant these days, I think it's because people think it makes them sound smarter by letting them write run on sentences. (And yes, that was a deliberate attempt at irony)

All the cool kids are spelling things incorrectly or failing to use correct grammar these days. It's the 'in' thing.

I think it's just a case of "thinking of the right word, typed the wrong word."

Read the opening sentence and reconsider if you want to afford the author benefit of the doubt.

Playfuls, the site that article came from, is Romanian. It's chock full of errors and really awkward English.

Oh, and that's just a stupid article anyway.

I went to the site, and within seconds I encountered this:

According to MCV, The Times wrote that the game's 19-year-old heroine Jennifer is "beaten, gagged and buried alive", also mentioning "among other horrors, a rat being pushed into a girl's face", and accusing the game of "alleged overtones of lesbianism and sadomasochism".

Commas indeed...
