so i was stress testing for my OC and decided i wanted to push my rig (same as in Signature)

been running Prime 95 for the past 2.5 hours and playing CS;S for the past 1 hour.

settings for CS:S everything maxed out, VSYNC ON, TRIPLE BUFFERING ON
i have smooth stable 60fps gaming and running prime 95 in the background.

i have 2 monitors so i can monitor work activity prime95 and temps on my second monitor.

currently temps are:
56,57,56,56 (100% full load according to speedfan)
GPU core: 54C
chipset: 29C (how the hell can i stress my chipset, the temp never goes up haha)

power draw is an est at current load: 350W from the wall (UPS LCd showing 400 but thats including my 2 monitors, and laptop.

Some instances of Prime95 only stress my cores 50% (50% of both or 100% on the other...) So yea

Prime runs at lowest priority. Threads aside, it uses whatever spare cpu cycles you have. It should not in theory have any effect on performance of any application.

is there a way to run it at a higher priority so i can find if i have stability problems faster?

i also noticed that i get lower CPU temps when gaming + Priming than just Priming alone..

F.E. i would get core temps of 63 across 4 cores if priming alone and get temps of 59 when gaming+ priming

To set it to higher priority, I believe you change the priority under Task Manager, Process. Then, you can change Prime to the highest and set CS:S to the lowest. Hope you don't lag.

The game will have performance issues if prime is taking up cpu cycles that it requires. Prime will make a processor run hotter than a normal game. A cpu being put at 100% in task manager from a game does not necessarily give off as much heat as 100% in task manager from something else.

Most people do not worry about Prime 95 priority settings. Just turn prime on and be sure it is running on all of your cores. Let it go for 24 hours. You can use your pc as you normally would during this time if you desire. After 24 hours, if prime is still going, your pc is good to go.
