bah, the US mint just doesn't make enough of them. i doubt there are that many collectors holding on to hundred dollar stacks of one dollar coins😛 there simply are not enough in circulation. lazy mint bastids. anyways, yes stamp machines give em out as change.
 
The only way the dollar coin will truely become commonly accepted is if the government phased out the dollar bill, which won't happen because so many people want to keep it. Replacing the dollar bill with the coin would save millions of dollars in costs each year.
 
Dollar coins rule. So do 2 dollar coins.

Canada knows where it's at! $1 coins have been in circulation since what? 1987 or something? Twonies came out in 1996...
